OBS Studio

Why can't I run OBS as an administrator?
Run as an administrator option isn't available after right-clicking the shortcut. Is there any ways I can run it as an administrator?

In Windows: navigate to [steam]\steamapps\common\OBS Studio\bin\64bit\obs64.exe
(where [steam] = installation base directory of Steam apps where OBS Studio is installed under)
open the properties of above exe-file (right-click at above exe file in windows explorer and choose properties)
click on the compatibility tab
under settings: check "Run this program as an administrator", click OK, done
or (if above is greyed out or you choose to set this for all users)
click "Change settings for all users" (you have to approve this in the UAC prompt by clicking Yes)
under Settings: check "Run this program as an administrator", click OK twice, done

Hmmm.... let's see if I can make it more clear. Assuming you have OBS installed in the default location.

  1. On windows taskbar, click on the folder icon labelled File Explorer
  2. Copy the following text and paste it into the location bar:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\OBS Studio\bin\64bit
  3. In that folder, scroll down and find the file named: obs64.exe
-If you don't have extensions displayed, the file name may be obs64 but it should be labelled as an application and have a proper icon.
  4. Right-click on the file and select properties.
  5. On the window that opens, it is defaulted to the 'General' tab, select the 'Compatibility' tab.
  6. Now on the bottom half of that windows there are some boxes to select. Select the box that says 'Run this program as an administrator'
  7. Click OK

That should be it.
