Question about Registration

Under squad registration it says that players og age 20 or younger on 1/1/2022 doesn't need to be registered. Does that that go for the first team or only U21 and U18?
For example: Rico Lewis is 17 when the game starts. If i don't register him, can i still play him in the first team or only U21 and U18?

You register a player for a competition, here apparently the Premier League, not for a team.
By the way, you have another squad registration screen for the UCL, you can switch by a scroll down menu on the top right.
So only registered players or players who do not need registration can play in that competition.

Youth competitions do not need registration, well the age limit is a restriction but is handled by the game without input.

You couldn't register Rico Lewis if you wanted to, he does not need registration to play in the Premier League thanks to his young age. He can play in the Prem and youth competitions.
