Put some moss on the rocks in the overworld, trees don't grow out of rocks like that...
These are rough patches of the game that is hard not to notice. Trees put on the sloping rocks not connecting to anything besides the rocks looks half baked. Put some moss or vegetation to cover these rough patches up.

It is very half-assed to place assets in this way, they are free on quixel megascans.

The game looks great beside things like this.

The detriments of being observant hehe. Is this particular situation seen in a trailer, or the demo preview? Either way, it's possible this was fixed after those were presented; the demos were earlier builds, as far as I'm aware.

Teams of this size wouldn't be able to deliver such ambitious games without Megascans.
I agree that it can be jarring in the overworld but I prefer they use free assets for rocks and trees and spend most of their 3D/Art resources on things that really matter: enemies, characters, biomes, buildings...

Wukong also made the same choice: they put all their resources on boss design mostly. The environments were filled with Megascans, much more than Expedition 33.

Didn't prevent the game from being a massive success.

Exactly. I would be too busy playing the game to notice such minor details, unless they are truly jarring.

Andy Serkis is most likely not that huge on budget as he plays a villain who will have 5 lines in the whole game.
Also VA is handled by publishers and is completely unrelated to the development budget.
