Favorite Character Trailer?
Their official playlist for the five trailers: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI0_h8FqQIs0sT0zToy8mFhkWTDtEjsC7

The most recent one (Monoco's) specifies in the description that this is it for the Character Trailers, so...which one was your favorite? In my opinion, it's a little unfair for the first two (Gustave and Maelle) that their trailers didn't follow the template the latter three eventually settled upon. They're slightly shorter and (especially for Gustave) missing that little something.

For me, the best one was coincidentally the latest, today's trailer for Monoco. From a perspective of "showcase a character and sell me on them", my interest in the Gestral shot way up. They teased he could turn into various enemies, but the number is much higher than I expected. And I love his voice and theme, this suave, wise energy counter-balanced by clumsiness.

I loved Sciel's but Monoco just took the first place. Just love the Cowboy Bebop vibe about him and his theme.
I think Monoco is my new favorite character, and it's due to that trailer.

For me, probably Lune. I love unique mage characters and watching her fight really sells me on the game's energy. I like how all of them fight, really...these trailers have just been snowballing my hype.

I love Lune: the presentation of her magical abilities is very much like a martial artist/monk as well. They fit together in such a cool way.

Difficult to say, they are all good, but in english i will say Monoco, in french i will say Sciel.

The less favorite is Gustave the character seems to be the less interesting for the moment.
I have been jamming out to the Monoco track for a while so I knew I was going to like him when his reveal came out. I am really looking forward to the ensemble cast in the VO department though.

However, for me right now the character I have emotionally attached to is Gustave. I like the story beats set up for him and the weapons of choice.

Plus I aesthetically enjoy characters that acquire a faux-arm/hand: Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker (star wars), Ash (Evil Dead), Finn (adventure time), Edward (Full metal alchemist) etc. there are a good bit out there.

He's the main character of the game; they try to reveal as little about him as possible.

In the demo (he was the only character where most of his spells were blocked).

At first I wanted to say Gustave but his french voice actor sounds very bad, especially compared to the english one, apart from that I really like lune too

Just curious - are you planning to play it in French?

Sometimes I like to play games in other languages (with English subtitles, of course), if I feel it makes them more flavorful or "authentic". Ghost of Tsushima is a great example of this, even though IIRC the English is the real language used and not a dub. Playing it in Japanese made it feel closer to the samurai films it was inspired by, in my opinion.

Yes in french and yeah i agree thats how I usually work too. I like using the language that fits the universe of the game (same goes for movies and series) and for a completely fictional universe I do it generally in french for comfort, depending on the quality of the acting too

But here since the game takes place in a fantasy version of France and was developed by a French studio, it makes even more sense to me to stick with it :p

That makes sense, indeed :) I can't pass on listening to Jennifer English, Ben Starr, and Andy Serkis, though hehe. Maybe playthrough #2?

Absolutely love Sciel. She's got this "entertainer" vibe to her, and she seems very friendly, but also wise.

I really liked what was mentioned in the description of her trailer, that Sciel is fully invested in defeating the Paintress but accepts the fact that they might fail. That seems like a logical and wise stance to take: she'll do whatever she can to save humanity, but isn't necessarily shackled by her emotional investment such that she'll make a critical mistake out of desperation. Not fully "it is what it is" or detached from the stakes, nor is she just along for the ride, but rather trying to remain level-headed and understanding of her probable death.
