The cliche is getting boring, find something new

OPs potato PC cannot handle ue5 games.
OP doesn't want to admit to having potato PC.
So OP hates on ue5 because of their potato PC.
Conclusion: OP is a poor that has a potato PC that cannot run ue5 games reliably.
Yeah, everything checks out lmao.
Here's the deal.
Writing your own engine takes many, MANY years and takes dozens of highly experienced engineers to do it.
Hence why the only devs which still have their own engines are those which have been around for a long time, have lots of experience, and lots of money in the bank.
For example -
Ubisoft - Snowdrop, Anvil
id Software - id Tech
EA - Frostbite
CD Projekt Red - Red
SquareEnix - Luminous
Bethedsa - Creation
Capcom - RE
Guerrilla Games - Decima
Naughty Dog - Naughty Dog engine
Rockstar - Rage
Valve - Source 2
Turn 10 - Forzatech
There really aren't that many more left. So if you're an indie, you end up on Unreal. That's the commercial reality of the game industry now, and it's only going to get worse. So support games on custom tech, and keep hoping that Epic someday fix their broken engine.
CD Projekt Red dropped Red engine, they moved to Unreal Engine 5.
I'm aware, and it's a tragedy. One of the best engines around abandoned for the engine of stutters.
Only problem with UE5 is stuttering, and it is getting better after 5.2. No engine can match UE5's memory management. Great for folks who has low Vrams.
Unity that wants to take over the project?
Godot that jumped the shark with DEI?
RPG Maker?
Today I will show you a guaranteed Unreal Engine Stutter Fix, For Free!
1) Buy a bottle of Scotch, preferably one priced similar to the price of an Unreal Engine game.
2) Start the game
3) * Keep taking your whiskey shots every time you see or feel stutter
And soon, Stutters will be gone!
* Remember, if you stop taking those whiskey shots, the stutters will come back so you will need some backup bottles just in case to ensure you never experience a stutter.
I tried this, but how do you turn off screenshake once this happens?
Also have a terrible case of motion blur...
This ain't the wild west of game development anymore where everyone makes proprietary engines, and unless your name is id Software and you're really, REALLY good at making incredible game engines that somehow require like half of the system reqs as your competitors, making your own engine seems silly.
(Tangent, but no really how come every DOOM game looks incredible and runs smoothly at high settings on toasters?)
