[Spoiler] "Romances" are cringes
Sciel try to hook up Verso not long after Gustave died, she don't even know Verso.
So ok I see devs try to show how broken she is, and she can do anything to relax but still it's so cringe, it come out of nowhere and then she is always talking about Pierre her husband.
Even at the last moment, when she know she can see him again she want to have sex with Verso. Just wtf :lunar2019deadpanpig:

Lune is a far more interesting character, she always doubt of Verso, he proved many times he is a traitor and he can't be trusted and her attitude reflected this.
But then in the end of her relation quest she invite Verso to have sex... She were supposed to not trust him, he betrayed the expeditions many times and even betrayed the expedition 33. But then she forget about it just for this "romance" to happen... It just feel forced :lunar2019deadpanpig:

While playing, I got the impression — and I'm almost certain of it — that all the optional camp encounters were written without the supervisor of that part knowing exactly when in the story they would happen. So they created some generic scenes that could technically fit if something had to be changed, but in the end, unfortunately, they make no sense given the moment the game is in.

To me, neither of the two romance options makes any sense, especially because Verso is manipulating the characters throughout the entire game. It would make some sense with Sciel, but it really happens way too fast. If it had been better developed, it might’ve been okay, but the fact that it has absolutely NO impact on the game's ending also feels pretty out of context.

Want something worse? When Verso admits to Maelle that he let Gustave die on purpose because he thought Gustave might interfere with his plans, she THANKS him. That is completely out of character.

The game's story seems to completely ignore everything that happens in the loyalty missions — and vice versa.

Well, she thanks him for being honest, she already figured him out by that point.

I liked many of the relations dialogs , juste not the ones with Sciel and the last with Lune.

Monoco, Esquie are perfect. Maelle seem very good too, to me. + the quests it offers can be nice, like when Maelle make Alicia disappear without letting Verso say a goodbye to her.

His mother painted that world.
She must have given him them bad boy vibes when she painted her son.

Maybe when Maelle recreated Lune she got some stuff incorrect :^). JK though, I don't have enough proof to say whether Lune is the exact same as before the gommage or not
Ain't EVER letting that filthy treacherous walking corpse near Lune and Sciel EVER AGAIN in any of my playthroughs. Should've offed himself ages ago, like his sister has.

Sorry ladies but this is a kindness, not cruelty.

Sciel doesn't even get a Quest. She's pretty basic as it comes.

Only sex at camp is all she can do :lunar2019piginablanket:

Thats what the whole story and him being treacherous is about, he says or at least its implied that he has tried to "off" himself multiple times but that his mother made him immortal so he cannot. He hopes that the "mega-gommage" after they defeat the Paintress takes him, he sits down closes his eyes and waits for the end, but it doesnt work. He is conflicted, and while saving Aline/Maelle might be a big part of his motivation (or at least the part he says out loud), his biggest motivation is to finally be able to die. The guy has lived over a 100 years, knowing he is just an imitation of the real thing created by "his" grieving mother not being able to move on and having seen great suffering and literal mountains of corpses created because of him, has seen almost everyone he cares about die or has been forced to kill them himself. So when the mega-gommage doesnt work and he is faced with once again being trapped in immortality with grieving Maelle instead of Aline he decides to let the whole world burn.

I agree, they don't really add much in the long term as far as stories go and they couldn't went without the sex implications in this, especially with Sciel who's so "broken up and hurt" about her dead husband, that she forgoes everything to have a one nighter with painted Verso.
The "relationship" with Sciel isn't "romance" and isn't meant to be... it's just fun, stress relieving, sex.

She and Verso are more "friends with benefits" than "lovers"

In fact, as unpleasant as it is to admit, most women behave exactly like this in real life. They are impulsive, impressionable and not picky in their choice of partners. I was also not pleased with this scene, but it did not surprise me.
Most of the camp encounters, if you keep up with them, the women think they are on a 1 year journey that will end with them dying one way or another. They just want to experience some fun and pleasure while they can.

Sciel's is definitely not a romance. She's simply an unusual character when it comes to video game tropes. Both clearly attached to her husband, to the point where Verso doesn't, and never will, mean anything to her, but also hippie enough to not care about widow sex

She probably would've pulled the same moves on Gustave (unless she somehow drew the line at hooking up with Sophie's dude) if the game didn't wait for act 2 to introduce the system

That's why I said "romances"
