Difficult to follow an other RPG story after this game...
I finished weeks ago and tried other games but how can I like other stupids story where characters talk too much for nothing, where the story don't make sense at all, where the musics are bland... :winter2019sadsnowman:

Thinking it's an AA game, made by juniors devs make me see other AA from small studios differently... :winter2019sadsnowman:

I am a bit like a citizen of Lumière, realizing my world was fake with bland games... I had a glimpse of the writers' world and now everything taste differently :winter2019sadsnowman:

I feel the same. I'm playing persona 4 right now, it's nice, and even funny sometimes..; but the ridiculous anime/manga dialogs where people hit others when they say something stupid, the noosebleed and other creepy dialogs towards good looking girls. It feels really silly

Some games left me like that for a while, it eventually fades. ^^
Was difficult to play anything after nier automata for me for example, left me kinda speechless, the experience was pretty strong.

Clair Obscur is good, but not that good, plenty of amazing games out there, but some games leave such a strong impression that like, you need to wean it off to play other things. But it does come back. :P

Play FF14. The writing and dialogue is strong in that game.

Or Elden Ring. Which has almost no dialogue, and yet it conveys its message across clearly through atmospheric storytelling.

Heavensward to a lesser degree, and shadowbringers/endwalker are some of the best stories I've ever seen in any video game. ^^

The only games I find ok to play after Clair Obscur are totally different games.
Like strategy games, roguelites, anything not based around their story.

I tried Tainted Grail, a RPG but the story was so badly writen and made no sense it's just impossible to accept it after Clair Obscur.
If you haven't played it yet, I would recommend Nier:Automata which I consider to have an even better story (and I loved the one in Clair Obscur).

If you want a game with similar gameplay using turn-based, party combat, with interesting build and party compostion, Darkest Dungeon is IMO one of the best exemples although it doesn't have the active elements of Clair Obscur like parries and dodges.
I actually started playing persona 5 for the first time after Expedition 33, you're sooo right.
Persona 5 is fine, but I couldn't help but to start a new game in Clair Obscur. It's just on another level, finished it yesterday, got all of the achievements. And it feels hard to play any other game after that.

I had a really hard time finding a follow-up game, and bounced off a ton.

I'm now enjoying Metaphor Refantazio, which is different enough that it's not doomed by comparison. It's (so far) a mostly by-the-numbers fantasy adventure story but a pretty well-executed one that I'm enjoying.

There's no risk that I'm going to end up thinking it's a better game the COE33 at the end, but I'm at least no longer constantly thinking "I wish this was COE33," which I think counts as a win.

If everything were great, then nothing would be great. So its a win-lose situation ;P But same here, need totally different genres. I can't even connect with BG3 anymore really.

And gotta be honest, most JRPGs are auto-out because of how exceptionally well done the combat is in E33
I deeply loathe turn-based combat, and CO was so good that it made me love the turn-based combat it had because of the parry and dodge system. I don't think I'll get something quite like this again.

Sadly, most of the JRPG gems that were created is not available on Steam or PC.

And they were mostly created pre-PS3 era.

Here's some list of good story focused JRPGs

- Xenogears (PSX)
- Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX, Andriod, IOS)
- Final Fantasy 7 (PSX, Steam, PS4)
- Panzer Dragoon Saga (Sega Saturn)
- Valkyrie Profile (PSX, Andriod)
- Valkyrie Profile 2 (PS2)
- Suikoden 2 (PSX, Steam)
- Suikoden 5 (PS2)
- Shadow Hearts 1 + 2 (PS2, need to play both as they make 1 story)

At least FF7 and Suikoden 2 is available on steam. A tier below, there's Star Ocean 1 and 2 available on steam as well.

Not just JRPG but almost any story driven game feels like soulless plastic with horrible music and depressingly bad acting. This game spoiled other games for me.
Unless it’s a gameplay focused one. Even Resident Evil 4 I play now feels mediocre :(

Don’t worry, Deltarune releases in 2 more days.
