I'm still in act 1, but did they explain what Nevrons and Gestrals are?

I just got Esquie, but it just occurred to me that I still don't really know what they are. I gather that they're creations of the Paintress, but that's really all I know. If it gets revealed later don't spoil me.

But I do have a question. If no expedition ever came back, how would humanity even know Nevrons existed? Did they appear in Lumiere?

The answer to this is a mild spoiler but there is an answer to it.

One expedition did make it back, a long time ago...

Also, it's possible or even likely that there was some basic non-Expedition level exploration done that would have very quickly made clear the existence of Nevrons.

It will be explained late in Act 3 if you do side quests. Some expeditions DO came back. You'll find out from the journals. Earlier expeditions did not think the Paintress was the cause, so they was more of a search and rescue.

i also believe there were nevrons on the land thru the world after the fracture and people had fought them in there "homeland", im postive in saying that the nevrons are not just an expedition thing

The mime you found before you set sail is also a Nevron. It's not an expedition thing. If anything else, the Dome's existence confirms that Nevrons is a constant threat.

The dome, the shield of Lumiere protects it from the Nevrons, but it does not protect them on the sea and islands around them. So plenty of them died to Nevrons even outside of the expeditions.

And yes, color is life in this world.
