Well there's jumping the shark, and there's this..(spoilers)
Just started Act 3...so after everything, we're all just in some twisted poor-man's matrix created by a family too dysfunctional for a Jerry Springer episode. None of the trauma endured by the characters means anything. Seriously...wtaf. Please tell me that Act 3 redeems this mess.

It's about the trauma of that family. The characters don't matter to them, they are NPCs in their theray painting session.

The ending of Act3 (in my opinion) redeem the whole revelation of Act2, in a very twisted, but good way. Thought yeah, coming out of Arc2 to find out it's all a fictional world sucked and killed my will to play for a while.

You honestly thought it was a real world?

Tell that to Maelle. She's very real and it all matters a heck of a lot to her.

It's all about the girl.

Yeah? It’s not like it would’ve been that absurd to have a fantasy world with monsters killing humans and some godly entity being the main villain

there were hints dropped along the way and oddities you come across while wandering the world. the end of act 2 just makes it obvious that the clues were all there. chroma, things like the eiffel tower looking like abstract paintings, what looks like canvas in front of siriene where there's gaps in the rock, all the water looking like ink/paint, shortcut bridges that look like a paintbrush was dragged across the landscape and all those still image areas with their music in them.

I think it does. It got a little convoluted, but the mass gommage was a legit shocking moment.

Yet they iron it out if you do the companion quests and search around.

For me seeing expedition 70 got within the Monolith and "wait... what?" Was first indication that all was not as it seemed.

Look at it like this. What if we found out without a shadow of a doubt that we were just some hallucination of some god and we were all just created. Would that change anything at all for us?

you're missing the point, no one cares about the dessendre family feud, not even maelle, why should they get to decide the fate of that world ? But everyone cares about the world and the people that was lost, and Maelle can reshape the world that her parents destroyed over their feud. Verso left Maelle an entire world where she can be whatever she likes, can speak and has a face. Act 3 makes it hers, from act 3 onwards, you feel in control of the narrative, the world was alien before, now it is yours, it's "home". ^^
