Why didn't anyone tell Simon he's in a turn-based game?

So like.... what the hell? Simon apparently thinks we're in Dark Souls and won't let me do anything. First turn is his. And he hits 20 times. And then it's his turn. And then his turn. After that it's his turn. Like, DUDE, let me play!

you're probably being satirical but on the off chance you're not i just want to say he has three effects which don't cost him a turn. bring health to 1. steal shields, remove others form the canvas. if you begin the fight w/ 1 health, have no dead party members and no shields, he just attacks once and then it's your turn. assuming your agility and his are on par w/ one another.

i've seen people say that but i've never seen it. wonder if it's been patched? i have three videos i made to help people kill simon and in none of them he steals non-existent shields.

yeah he's the best enemy in the game. i have a save file right before him so i can just keep fighting him over and over. gl hf!

You can get the action economy back on your side with a combination of First Strike, Revive Paradox, Slow, Rush, Cheater, and any other Pictos that give you an auto-turn. You don't need all of those, but you do probably need 3-4. Mixing in some break will help a lot as well.

My party was getting effectively 4-5 actions to every one of his on average, but he'd still occasionally get two in a row if the wrong people were down/wrong bufffs or debuffs went inactive at the wrong time.

Simon takes two turns at once. There's only one true turn out of those two.

The first of those turns is an accessory turn. It always happen, but he can never truly kill you outright in this turn. He only uses it to steal shield, reduce your HP to 1, and banish fallen members.

The second of those is his true turn. He can use this action to outright kill you, including the group kill in the third phase. He attacks in this turn, and he recovers from stun in this turn.

If you stun him, when this second turn comes, he will recover here and will take action the next time another of these second turns comes. So if you stun him and keep reapplying this stun with Verso's End Bringer at rank A, he cannot use this turn to recover and will have to use the next one to recover, and the one after that to act anything else.

And no, he does NOT steal your non-existent shield. You use shield without knowing it. Like "Base Shield", which gives you one automatically when that character comes; "Aegis Revival", revives you with one shield instantly, usually comes with your "Second Chance", which automatically revives you once; "Solidify" which automatically activates and gives you 2 shields when you're below 50%; Maelle's weapon sometimes steel shield as well; or "Shielding Tint," which gives one shield on Healing Tint.

He steals all of them, even the ones you're not aware of.

You can overcome his amount of turns with Auto-Rush on everyone. Revive Paradox immediately gives you a turn when revive. Shortcut gives you a turn immediately if you're below 30% and survive the attack. Survivor leaves you one 1HP instead of being instantly killed.

use the lumina that allows you to play immediately when health drops below 30%, so you can steal him few turns when he put you at 1 hp
