It seemed to be slightly mismarketed. They weren't clear enough about how many souls-like elements were in the game.
I can understand that sentiment
Sure man, that's fine, we appreciate it differently
Myself, am happy to have the experience Sandfall delivered, things I like less (there are very few) included.
Assuming that the 4% that reviewed the game negatively are all because of dodge timings, they still knocked it out of the park, they don't need to go get that 4%, they can keep their creative freedom and deliver the experience they want to deliver.
That's how we got this game in the first place. :P
I'm 62 and I had to install a double exp mod just so I could play through and not get discouraged.
You resolved your problem yourself, bravo!
I'm 40 years old, reacting snappily isn't my forte anymore either, but that is approaching the game wrong. Every enemy has a "rhythm", and they only have a couple of attacks, instead of focusing on reacting, focus on learning these patterns/rhythm. "Oh, X enemy doing Y attack! it's Slow-Slow-Fast-Slow-Very Slow-Very Slow"~
At 40 years old, I still feel snappy enough and I am capable enough to understand nuanced storytelling. I think this game is made by for people like me.
I get it, but many of my friends are completely put off by the system and won't even try it.
We're asking for an OPTION. Arguing against this simply makes you sound immature.
You have an option, and like, you don't have lessons to give me about maturity when you're 60 years old and getting angry at a dude who disagrees with you on the internet. :P
Crafty new take this is.
Personally what baffles me a little bit is the lack of Pictos that enhances dodges and parries. Unless I missed them, the Dodger Picto is only Picto that affect dodges, which grants 1 AP after a perfect dodge once per turn. There are some Pictos that affect parries, but those only grant AP or increase counter damage. But there is no Picto that increases the window of performing dodges/ parries.
For a game that places great importance on dodging/ parrying, you'd think that there be a lot more Pictos that enhances those abilities other than just damage and AP gains. That is my main issue with the game.
I would like to see more options to enhance dodges and parries even if it comes with some kind of drawback.
Example: Dodge/ parry window increases by 30%, but counter damage is reduced by 30%. Having more build options would be greatly appreciated.
