I want to play New Game+ while keeping the enemy strength the same.
In many JRPGs, New Game+ offers the thrill of overpowering enemies, which is part of the fun.
It's really disappointing that this game lacks that experience.

Instead of automatically making enemies stronger, I wish they had added a higher difficulty mode as an option.

Unless you dont know what you are doing you still wipe the floor with everything in NG+ easily.
You take over all your pictos and skills, meaning unless you really dont know how to build your characters you will pretty much 1 hit everything for nearly the entire NG+.
And the cheese builds are just as OP in NG+ as in the first run.

Nearly everyone complains that NG+ is way too easy and the enemies did not get stronger enough by a long shot.

Yeah, from the sound of things you'll just annihilate everything in NG+ except for the late late late end game bosses. And unless you're already level 99/max lumina, even those will be easier as your strength grows during the NG+.

NG+ would probably be really fun if you just go through the story and start it up without doing side content.

If you have characters over lvl 90 and know what to do it's still very easy in fact if the dificulty wasn't increased it would be a single gun shot to kill every enemy in the game lol

I installed a mod to give enemies 10x health and I'm still beating enemies before they can get a turn in NG+. I'm sure that will change as I get further into the game (only at the Gestral village, fought Golgra and she has 150m health with the mod, she's taking quite a bit more than a few turns), but NG+ is easily doable with most stuff feeling weaker than your first time through.

I see.
Seems like my build might be the issue.

Is building around a turn-1 preemptive kill just the optimal way to go?

Personally, I enjoy tanky or all-rounder builds more.
I like adapting my strategy based on the enemy and letting the fight play out over multiple turns.
But maybe that kind of playstyle doesn’t really fit how the game is designed?
