[Spoiler] Sadness Vale giant enemy?

There is a giant enemy clinging to the underside of the arch that you pass under to access the giant mask. Is there any way to fight it?

That's just a regular Contorsionniste used as a background decoration to portray suffering, which the player fights all throughout Visages and at the very entrance of the Sadness Vale.

They can also be found in this same position in another level, Isle Of The Eyes.

They are not actual background decoration in that area. You can interact with them. You can shoot their eyeballs and all the other eyes on the map, to summon a chromatic enemy
