Something Clair Obscur could learn from Guitar Hero
GH had an ingame tool to calibrate note synchronization with audio and visuals: push the button to the rhythm to sync up. I think Clair Obscur could benefit from something like this since it relies on audio and visual cues for dodging/parrying.

Nope. Unneeded.

it doesn't, it relies on learning the rhythm, much like you learn a song in guitar hero by practicing it. This perception that you need to react is why people are struggling with the system I think, I process attacks like "Okay, fire attack is coming, it's two slow swings, then one very quick swing, then another slow swing, then two very slow swings", once you've learned the patterns for one mob type, even if you haven't fought it in 10 hours, it comes back almost instantly. Your brain will automatically adjust timing to whatever input latency you might have, but you need to accept failure to learn and build the connections in your brain.

The point is for accessibility, not gameplay. Some situations may have a desync between audio and visual information with no way to correct ingame.

Accessibility how ? And again, the problem is that you rely on audiovisual cues, not rhythm. Like, when I play guitar hero, the color of the note tells me which note to press, but I rely on the rhythm to know when to press. Window here is a lot wider than GH too, an approximation of the rhythm is fine here. :P

I have desync issue when remote streaming in my home. Even voiced dialog has a slight delay. I don't experience this in any other game which prompted the thread.

If the rhythm is 3 beats but all 3 beats are off sync, how can you rely on the rhythm?

If you're in a situation where your audio is 500ms+ unsynched, you have problems you can resolve with your setup, and it would lead to a very poor experience generally. :P

Like, if your stuff is unsynched enough to affect your gameplay, there's an issue with your setup that you should address.

This is probably where your answer is, something is making clair obscur have that delay when you are remote streaming, and you might be able to resolve that. Am sorry I hadn't properly read, I just woke up. ;o;

OK, try to play a real guitar in rocksmith instead of an xbox controller and now add 100ms of audio lag that you sometimes get when going over HDMI to a TV speaker.

Sure, you can still get everything right with a bit adjustment of playing a bit before or after the beat, but it still feels wrong and more importantly, it will be wrong in context of playing the same songs with a band.

Yes, getting the audio in sync with inputs and video is a great.

I love your analogy. Add 50ms to a drum track and watch the rest of the song just fall apart. E33 isn't so precise but this was a common enough issue with games on the PS2 and of its era. Many games, not just music games, had calibration tools.
certain boss fight phases does this
