Do we have a sense of how much post-launch support is coming?
I know DLC is unlikely, but do we know if they're still actively working on patches, or what kind of scope?

Like, are features like battle retry or optional level-scaling reasonable to hope for, or is it probably just down to bug fixes at this point?

We don't know yet. They haven't expressly said one way or the other.

They aren't adverse to updates, but they also seem to want to prove they aren't a 1 hit wonder afaik. I think it would be a shame for them to abandon this, and I personally would like to see some difficulty enhancements, more zones, more dungeons, etc. I would be more than willing to pay for a DLC as well, but they seem.. hesitant from what I have heard. Not really sure why, considering they released a banger and they know it.
I hope that they move on to a new project after some fixes.

I prefer the game to just be done.

I kind of agree with this
They have said in interviews that they are still working on patches and some quality of life features.

But in general yes I hope that this game is done and they move on to another project, preferably unrelated to clair obscur.

I don't want a franchise I want to see what other stuff these guys can dream up.

One hopes that they pull a Larian and work on things mentioned by the community.

(Such as adding new endings or fleshing out the ones we have.)

I'm not really saying I want a ton of new content, but some QoL fixes to extend replayability (level scaling I think is the biggest one) and completing some of the costume "sets" would be nice.

They have worked for 6 years on a single game... Maybe they just want to turn the page and work on a new project.

Which, I said, is likely what they will do. And if they put this much care and attention into that next project, ill buy that one as well. But im not trying to wait until 2030 for their next potential hit. I would rather they do some expansion content to this, such as further extend Endless Tower even if it recycles the floors but the HPs keep scaling further and further by another 33/66/99 floors, add some 100, 150, and 200 mil uber bosses, add an Expert+ and Expert++ that actually makes it so giga builds have to strategize instead of 1 tapping every encounter while they work on their next project, whatever it may be..

Literally none of those would need major dev work to accomplish, as they have the framework for all of it, and 2/3 are simply modifications to the existing scaling while adding a reason to do another run, and thats from someone who is 99 on all chars with so many lumina points per character I can make any build I want, running an increased level/hp mod for mobs and still blowing through NG+.

Sure, I know you'd want this. But what about them, then ? They are a small team, they have been all seriously involved in the same project for SIX YEARS !

Even Baldur's Gate 3 developers admitted they were now completely bored with the franchise. And their team is way bigger...

A video game isn't some soulless app you release to please your clients. If you have lost interest in the product, you can't work on it sincerely anymore and it will show. Lots of developers like Ubisoft release boring games that just look like copy pastas. You want them to do that ?

I don't know if they are tired of their game, but I could totally understand if they were. For you the game is pretty fresh, but one thing I'm sure of is that for Sandfall that release was a mix of joy and relief.

So are you dismissing the work of the success stories of 1-10 person teams that have been working on and delivering post release content for their games for years after they have released?

Congrats to them for releasing a game they have poured half a decade into. I love E33. But all things considered, they landed themselves in a precarious spot where everything they do will be eagerly watched. Whether they wanted the spotlight or not, they have it.

Yes, the game isn't a live service game. But yes, there are single player games that have released with scores of new things and enhancements years after they release. Burnout, Terraria, Payday, any Paradox game, Schedule 1 has 2 years of planned content by a single person in college, No mans sky, Stardew Valley, Binding of Isaac, Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress, Satisfactory, Minecraft, Manor Lords, Kenshi, Undertale. The list goes on regardless of studio size.

Do they need to make a mega dlc, no. But they are going to fix things over the next few months anyway. They might as well add some longevity to a stand out game in an ocean of slop and take win after win for relatively small work, that, while might not impact you personally at this time, will impact others. Im not sure where you are at with the game, but I came to the game late, and im maxed on everything with mods to scale HP/level and still blitzing the NG+ "experience".
Even EA fixed Mass Effect 3's horrible original endings, and EA is notorious for just releasing unfinished games and ditching them.

The endings to this game were obviously rushed since they are so disjointed.

And sorry, "oh poor devs, they are so tired from working on a game for six years" doesn't wash with me. Don't get a job in the industry if you're going to crash out after working on a single project for six years. Grow some backbone like people in other creative industries do.

Once you said "level scaling," I had PTSD flashbacks to Oblivion. No. No. and again. No.

I'll clarify that is should be an optionally selectable slider, but "ok you went and did Frozen Hearts or Dark Shores early because you wanted a challenge and the Monkey's Paw curls and nothing else will be a challenge until the Endless Tower at the soonest" isn't awesome.

Yeah judging from dev interviews its clear they don't want level scaling.

Interesting, did they say why?
