When I think of quick time events I think of old school God of war needing to press certain buttons to kill something in a cutscene
Its the attack animations. The diamonds that fill up and the 75%-100% portion of the diamond lands a perfect.
That being said, I guess parry/dodge are qte's. However, there is a pretty obtainable point with any character where you will literally beat every boss in the game with a single turn, nullifying them. Theres a point where you are so powerful many people, myself included (and im not really using maelle to do this, i have used verso, lune, sciel and monocco to make home brewed nukers) believe we really need an expert+, or even expert++ just to get dodges and parries back.
That being said, you could even make a build that ignores any necessity to parry or dodge, without making a nuker. Just need to find the pictos/lumina for it to work.
I wouldn't say parrying or dodging is though. Otherwise you could say any game where you can block is just doing a quick time event
I would tend to agree with you there. I don't consider them QTEs, more defensive kit, but I can see how they are perceived as QTE.
No more QTEs in my turn based RPG. I still do insane damage with auto QTEs and it doesn't nerf me into a game-breaking state.
