Steam - Clair Obscur: Save File Not Being Created At All

Hi everyone,

I downloaded Clair Obscur on Steam and played for about 2 hours. The game does show a “Saving…” message on the screen.

However, when I return to the title screen, the only options available are New Game, Settings, and Quit. There’s no “Continue” option at all. Even when I try to load a previous save during gameplay, nothing shows up.

I thought maybe the save files weren’t being recognized, so I checked the usual local save file locations, but there was nothing there.

Locations I checked:

1. C:\Users[Username]\AppData\Local\Sandfall … ← There isn’t even a Sandfall folder
2. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata ← No data from the date I played

There’s also nothing recorded in Steam Cloud:

I even tried installing the game on my D drive instead of C, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and tried every method I could think of, but nothing worked.

The game is really fun and I want to finish it, but this is honestly so frustrating.

TL;DR
1. The game doesn’t create any save files when I play
2. No records of saves in any of the usual save file locations
3. Tried everything I could think of, nothing worked
If anyone knows how to fix this, please help!

Also, whenever I exit the game, I get a “sandfall crash ... fatal error” warning message.

I tried downgrading my GPU driver to version 572.83, but the error still appears.

For reference, my CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and GPU is an RTX 4070 Super.
