The Stain colors are wild

Aren't these supposed to be the same color?

Electrify generates lightning stains, and Earth Rising consumes lightning stain

Am I losing my mind here?

I think all the "Consumes" colors are slightly darker than the ones shown on top of the skill. I don't think there is any meaning behind it.

they look pretty similar to me. Ones a little darker but they are still both yellowish. some color blind people may have issues though.

The consume colour are weird yeah. I really thought it was consuming fire stains at the beginning.

Hmm, after seeing your picture, I went and checked if the stains look slightly darker on my monitor too. I noticed that they only time they look that way is when I can't use the skill. Then the whole skill is kinda toned down color wise to see it's not usable. On the useable skills the stains look exactly the same.
What I also noticed, the skills on the other "page" of your skill menu are also toned down color wise, even the useable ones. If you press "R" on the Keyboard and they get highlighted the colors will be displayed correctly.

I think the discoloration is supposed to indicate that there is no relevant stain available to consume

At this particular moment, I didn't have any stains at all, so everything was discolored.

But seriously, the colors are hard enough to tell apart as it is, so when you just started the game this is more confusing than helpful.

By the time I got used to the colors I already just memorized the skills instead

I also had a hard time figuring it out, especially at the beginning when I wasn't sure what all the elements were and it wasn't too easy to get the stains I wanted to check. I kind of worked it out by process of elimination.
