So if Maelle can bring back Sciel and Lune, why didnt she bring back Gustav since he was the most important to her????

She retained their chroma and was able to reanimate it. It's not the case for Gustave, as it was likely absorbed by Renoir

Renoir had the rest of everyone's Chroma, she only managed to grab Lune's and Sciel's in that quick moment.

I don't want to say to much in-case you haven't gotten there yet. But in one of the endings you will see Gustav again. However, it is explained that they only had so much chroma at the time and the two party members where easier to restore due to it being recent.

If you die by Nevron your chroma gets trapped and corrupted, those people are forever gone. If you die a violent death by any other means or die of old age the chroma can be used by the Paintress or by Renoir maybe as well. In act 3 Maelle had no access to Gustave's chroma, Renoir had hoarded it all, especially after his wife was expelled. She could only bring Lune and Sciel back, while Renoir was recovering from the fight and was too weak - for the moment - to do anything. After Renoir is defeated Maelle can then bring anyone back to life who was gommaged or died of natural causes or in an accident as long as they were not killed by Nevrons. So Sciel's husband can be returned, he died in an accident, his chroma was never corrupted. Gustave as well and Sophie can also be returned because she was gommaged, so her chroma was never trapped and corrupted either.
