Two things I really don't like about this otherwise great game (heavy story spoiler)
First, the story frames one ending as the good one. However, this is basically making the antagonist right when he treats the beings of the painted world as, as he says, "those who know not that they are not". And well, I disagree, for the same reason that should we live in a simulation, we wouldn't be less real in my opinion. So, in the end, you'll destroy a whole living world for the sake of the supposed mental health of its creator, while in the other ending, the person enacting it makes another being a slave to their desire just as the paintress did. Unnecessarily so, I might add. She might have let him go, as he says repeatedly he does not want that life, and be content with the other friends she has made. So in my opinion, there are only two bad endings and no good one, and I dislike that a great deal.

Second, the two boss fights at the end of Act II have uninterruptile cutscenes of considerable length before the combat starts. Since these are the most difficult fights in the game (everything that comes after can be made easy by acquiring more abilities, weapons and levels, which is not the case here since the damage cap is still in place), it likely takes several to many attempts to finish these fights successfully, and sitting through those cutscenes ten times in a row is really, really annoying.

And at least with the second part, I'd like the cutscenes to be patched to be interruptible.

Don't misunderstand me, I think this game is a masterpiece, but even masterpieces are not necessarily completely free of flaws.

While I think both endings were sad, I definitely think one was the better choice. I think Maelle's is extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the sense she released alicia because she wanted it, but won't release verso. I don't know if there was options to otherwise save the canvas by instilling her soul? or something? but he's dead. He wants to go. Let him go. Not saying that anybody in the canvas isn't real, but he shouldn't be left in unhappy existence* after so long of unhappy chaos. The choice and both endings are very french. I found it amazing, even if it left me really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up after for a minute. It kind of reminded me of Nier or Soma's endings. I appreciated it a lot.

I'm not good with words but I definitely think her ending was far, far worse lol.

Anyhow, I was able to skip any cutscene I wanted, because I know for certain I had to redo the last fight at least once and I was able to skip. Were you able to skip any cutscene at all?

edit: not stasis because he does seem to age now and it's late, words hard

How did you do it? I was never able to skip any cutscene, so maybe it's a weird key combo I did not find out. ESC definitely doesn't do it. Playing with keyboard and mouse.

With a controller, you just need to pause (with the bottom face button, which is weird) then you can skip by holding right face button.
