Putting more levels into damage won’t change much if you get capped at 9999.
Also here is a guy completing the whole story on normal without a single parry.

Why is the game so unbalanced in the next required area? That doesn't make sense.
VIT and DEF is super strong in ACT1 and still good in ACT2. Then it gets flipped in ACT3 where you put all into damage and get HP from pictos.
Wherever you are make sure you have your weapons at max possible level - 9, 19 or 32. I think you should have lvl19 at that point.
I see a lot of less experienced players ignoring VIT (not just in this game) and make their games super hard unintentionally. I saw the same in Elden Ring. Any game is hard if you can be one shotted but these games are not like that. You can be tanky and can make such games easier.
i did notice a significant jump in difficulty in tainted lumiere compared to the rest of the monolith. those sword guys mess me up with their timings for some reason. i'll go a fight or two taking almost no damage and then the next fight i'll get into "last stand" mode or actually wipe.
It can also make a massive difference depending on your build and weapons you use. Medalum for Maelle specifically.
