Which kinda sucks that attributes are mostly just the damage for your weapon and don't really contribute in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah the stat system has no real depth to it, unfortunately.
At some point there's no reason to take anything beyond Might and the 2 scaling attributes because its the only way to increase damage.
I suppose it was done that way so your choice of pictos have more of an impact.
