I finished my first playthrough in about 30 hours, and I did take some time to enjoy the scenery. Some people consider it a challenge to finish a game asap, skipping cutscenes (which does cut off quite a few hours over the whole game) and have played enough soulslike games to be comfortable with the parrying and skill build systems. So yeah, it's possible, but .... enjoyable?? Hm.
I think it comes from people who skip through everything as fast as possible. It's a lot higher than that for a casual blind play-through.
I did pretty much everything in the game, I have all the achievements but could have missed something, and it took me 51 hours according to Steam. Might as well shave that down to an even 50 hours of actual play time.

I'm sure if you were only doing the story content, it's probably not hard to beat in under 20 hours.
Most reviewers probably speedran the game as fast as possible because reviews lose their cultural relevance after people have already purchased the game. Losing relevance means losing clicks which means less ad revenue. So them taking a shorter amount of time is more reflective of the pressures they are under to get their reviews published on time than it does dishonesty.

Never attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to the economy.

I finished the game, I did everything overall, even if I'm missing some steam achievements, I'm at 69 hours, I think that if you do the story in a straight line without skipping the cutscenes and dialogue you have 30 hours in normal difficulty, those who do it in 15 hours must rush in easy with the automatic QTE
Reviewers are probably cutscene/content skippers. For me it was around 30 hours and i didn't even do all the side content, just some.

my wife and i played through together. all achievements and Steam says 94 hours, probably 90 in game. no guides until the last few music pieces 😅. we were never stuck too long on any one boss, but that’s probably on the higher end of playthroughs from what ive seen people say here.

I'm 31 hours in and have reached the Axons. I think I've got at least 20 hours left.

60-ish hours for me, since I just went and explore and grind. Now, I'm on my second playthrough, and will add another 60.
Some users just brute-force their way through - if you skip battles, don't explore paths and pass up other things like the camp dialogue then you could probably finish this in 20-25 hours. If you aim to explore everything, take your time and participate in lots of battles then there is no reason why it can't be a 40-60 hour title.

This is a game which you can proceed quite rapidly in, if you ignore a lot of content such as simply exploring areas.

Finished the party member quests and the final boss at 57 hours, still have basically all of the post-game content left to do, so the game is gonna last me at least 70 hours.

No guides, no easy mode, no broken builds. I am very thorough though, I explored every area fully, completed optional areas like Yellow Harvest and Falling Leaves when they became available, never skipped dialog and so on.

I've never understood the appeal of speed running new games. It's weird to me.

My save file was at 30h when I finished the game but much more according to steam timer for some reason.

Them bros are in the speedrunning community. They get the highs on whomever reaches the top echelon on who's the fastest, so they can pat themselves on the back. LMAO.

it depends how you play the game if you focus only the main story quest and you play on normal or story mode and skip everything you are going to finish the game very quickly.

but if you play on experts and do a lot of exploration and side counted and you don't skip cut scenes it is going to take why longer to beat the game .
