This is funny to me, because if they actually played the game (I own the PS5 version), they'd realize that Clair Obscur isn't our world at all when you look at the grave stone of one of the characters who was born in December 33rd. Last I recall, the 1900s (which was just 26 years ago, lol.) didn't use calendars that had 33 days in a month.
I'm Anti-woke, but this game really isn't it. It's just Art. If anything this proves to me how both extreme sides of the political spectrum have an irrational visceral hated towards art because true art speaks to the human spirit or the transcendent & the eternal, that a political governing body can not control. It's why art & comedy are always the first to get regulated.
-highly improbably diversity for the time period it seems to be inspired by
-indeed mostly women
-main character seems like a cucked manbaby with mostly 'strong, brave, stunning, independent' etc women around him
-there is LGBTQ+
-main character gets saved/protected by specifically a black guy out of literally everyone else
-publisher company is woke/ESG/DEI who will get your money if you pay for this game(meaning you support woke being shoved into future games as well)
I mean I get the delusion. Some people really don't see it, because they're new to it or they just aren't capable. However a lot of people are coping simply because they are starved for bigger titles and are trying to fool themselves into thinking this game is without woke elements shoved in. I understand why people are coping so hard, but be real, there are plenty of indie companies without any such modern world things shoved in SIMPLY for the sake of box-ticking.
By "Woke" people mean blatant propaganda that arisen during the past decade. The agenda that dictates that minorities have to be represented no matter what.
What a stupid point of view.
The short things you've seen are completely out of context.
1. it's never said what time period the game is set in. Yes the clothes are from the last century but some of the technology is highly developed. (the technology for Pictos, jump over cliffs or Gustave's mechanical arm) but of course this is ignored.
2. there are 3 women and 3 men in the expedition party. So it's 50/50.
3. Gustave is a hero at the end of Act 1. And even Lune, who is so brave in your eyes, has her points in the story where she is visibly upset by what happens.
3. there is LGBTQ+? Where, please, just because two women talk to each other? It's mainly about friendship, family and what family means and a few other things that I don't want to spoil here.
4. main character gets saved/protected by specifically a black guy... who dies 2 seconds later.
5. publisher company is woke/ESG/DEI? I'd like some proof of that. Just because YOU say it doesn't make it true.
What "minorities"? Women are not a minority. Black people are not a minority. Hell, even "women with Asian genetics" are not a minority. Just because they haven't been visible in games for 30 years doesn't mean they don't exist, or don't matter. It just means that games have been made for white male teenagers for far too long.
