I don't understand optional bosses
Whenever I explore and encounter optional bossfights or even just stronger optional enemies, they pretty much one shot every on my team and each of my attacks maybe does 0.1 % damage of their health.

What is the point? Am I supposed to realize ok they are too strong for now I should come back later? At what point should I come back later and how can I even come back later when I have advanced too much in the story?

After I could travel with esquie or whatever his name is, basically anything that wasn't main story was impossible to do, even if I dodged and parried everything perfectly, I would have done only 0.1 % damage with every attack.

What is hard about it?

You see 0.1 % damage of their health and you accept the challenge or you don't.

Then you come later and see now it;s 1% damage of their health and you accept the challenge or you don't.

Then you come later and you see 10% of their health and you accept the challenge or you don't.

Then you come later and you see 30% of their health and you accept the challenge or you don't.

Hard concept to grasp?

They are just simply challenges meant for every type of player. Good at parry? Do now. Too hard? Come back later. If they were only meant to be killed late game, they would not exist early on. Not much to think about.
I would go back around act 2 or 3 depending on which bosses. A lot of the ones on the story route are doable as soon as you find them. But there is a lot of bosses that are optional. Some give achivements, nice upgrades and such.
You are meant to return later, exactly. Some early optional bosses you can find are not literally impossible (if you can parry like a god) but are mostly impossible.

The game will eventually lift the 9,999 damage cap and you can make tens or even hundreds of millions of damage. Tackle the optional bosses then.

In adition to the above.. not all non-regular enemies can be defeated by doing X amount of damage.
Many have different mechanics.

Some wont take proper damage until you break them
Some fights have timed mechanics
Some can only be hurt by certain actions (free aim, elements, etc.)
Some of them do require dodge or parry (no nice way around it)
The list goes on ...

More often then not i stumbled across a boss i couldn't handle, came back when i was much stronger, only to realize i could have done it before if i just figured out their mechanic.

Optional means post game or get good with parries etc and you can do it underlvled. It took my 20+min on water boss underlvled.

but that's my point, even if I parried perfectly the fight would take literally hours because of my low damage
