Is the Painter Lumina working?

Hey all - I'm unsure if the Painter Lumina is working correctly or if I'm misunderstanding what it does. The description says: Convert all physical damage to void damage - I have Sciel equipped with the Painter lumina and the Blizzon (ice) weapon. I fought a Pelerin (absorbs ice) and she healed him with basic attacks. I swapped out weapons just as a sanity check and fought him again and damaged him this time. I thought Painter would convert the basic/free attacks to void ... am I missing something?

It converts physical damage, in other words - not elemental damage

Base attack is the act of hitting an enemy with a regular attack. It has nothing to do with dealing physical damage, that's defined by your weapon. It also won't activate if the skill you use specifically states a damage type instead of "uses weapon element".

No, physical damage is a damage type. Blizzon's damage type isn't physical damage, it's ice damage (snowflake icon), so any attack that deals weapon's element damage will only be converted to void by Painter if you equip instead a weapon deals physical damage (the sword icon).

Base attack and free aim shot always use weapon damage type. for other skill, it's indicated which type of damage will be used; if it uses the weapon damage type, it will say "weapon element". So to have your base attacks as void dmg, you need a weapon with the sword icon for damage type.
