(Spoilers End) Are the people living in Lumiere....
Are the people living in Lumiere aka the human race all created by the mother? During the whole paintress scene and from talking with the inhabitants of the world it looked like only the humans got gommaged making me think they weren't originally in the painting to begin with.

Yes, Verso created fantasy world, she created the one closer to real Lumiere to live with her fake family

Real Verso created a fantastical version of Paris, Lumiere. It was probably a lot less structured and it was basically full of his creations like the Gestrals, Grandis Esquie etc.

Aline came in and made it more "life-like" which added the humans and made Lumiere more realistic so she could run away and live with fake painted family in fake Paris

Renoir came in and basically tried his best to wreck the place so Aline would be forced to come out and not die in the painting with her fake family. Aline fought him and while Renoir was partially successful, Aline managed to fight him off enough that the destruction was slowed, thats the Gommage, the destruction is still happening but slowly.

Ciel also came in to get her mother out and shes the "fake paintress" the white ones talk about. She created Nevrons to deny her mother Aline chroma which is required to keep the world running.

Alicia came in last and got messed up on the way in. But ultimately she is there to wallow in fantasy with her mother.

So yeah the gommage is only technically destroying the parts created by Aline. Which is why Gestrals and whatnot are unaffected.

There is no "real Lumiere", it's just Paris. Source: interact with the manor door during Alicia's epilogue between acts 2 and 3, she calls the city Paris.

And I'm not sure if Lumiere was entirely created by Aline, we know Verso built the train roads at least and the Grandis talk about how these train roads used to connect them with the humans.

I mean, it's obvious that this is Paris, but I missed that part in gamer which explicitly calls it like this, so thanks.

Gestural are just anatomical mannequins with paint brush bristles stuck on the top. Child Verso first attempt at creation. Simple, innocent, overactive.

Monoco, Noco, and the Gestral reincarnation are Versos version of the family pets. When one of the dog would get old and pass away, they would grieve, then get a new dog (Monoco III). At which point Noco would be the older dog and Monoco would be the puppy. Repeat. Loyal, likes play fighting, likes legs...

Esque is Verso's childhood imaginary friend. Always there. Soft and comforting. Invincible. Innocent. childlike. WheeWhooWheeWhoo, hug incarnate.

Grandis are possibly Child Verso's attempt to imitate his idea of being more mature. A more sophisticated (from a childs point of view) piece of creation. Though there is also the possibility they were childhood Clea's contribution to Verso's canvis, as she did more with pottery/sculpting.

The Humans/Luminaries/Expeditioners are Aline's/Paintress creation. Life like and realism. A way to create a false pairs to live within. It is possible they existed in childhood verso's painting as well to some degree, before the fire. But was much expanded upon when Aline retreated into her Grief.

The Nevron's are Clea's creation. She specializes in pottery/sculpting, and created them specifically to kill the expeditioners in a way that prevented their chroma from returning to the canvas where Aline could reuse it. They are pragmatic in their violence.

Child Clea also created Francois as her imaginary friend (who used to love singing), and would eventually outgrow them. And Goblu, who wasn't violent and only wanted to protect/appreciate the flower. She is the 'Mistress' the white nevorns talk about who is distinct from the paintress.

At some point, Clea overwrote Aline's Painted Clea, and Painted Clea would continue creating the Nevrons when Clea left.

Renoir created the Axion's, and the enemies that appear in the Axion's/final Lumiere area. Deals more with surrealism, and metaphors. The gorrmage is his more gentle way of destruction (compared to Clea's pragmatism)

The faceless/faded people are the fragments of soul that get left in the canvas as part of the painters process (faded boy-Verso, Faded Man - younger Renoir, faded lady in forgotten battlefield - Clea). The Painters can embody them directly to exist in the world, but the fragments also get left behind and act on a base auto pilot when the painters are away/trapped (Curator, Paintress in the manor)
Oh damn this is starting to feel pretty dystopian for the human race as they were new additions. I like to think the world is only a very limited finite space, meanwhile if humans keep increasing their population through baby making resources and space is going to run out fast. That's not even accounting for the civilisation advancements.
