What difficulty are you using?
I beat the game in Expeditioner (Medium) difficulty. I figured since I have played turn-based games before and know a bit about their mechanics that this would be the right difficulty for me. I didn't take into account the QTE stuff, but I'm still glad I chose this difficulty because it was quite rewarding at the end.

I had a lot of frustration and failure along the way, but eventually I triumphed.

Expert because I want the game to last as long as possible and love the challenge. Also the dodge/parry window is the same for expeditioner and expert. Enemies do hit way harder on expert though.

That was a big part of my reasoning. When the game's fresh, you want it to last as long as possible.

Expeditioner 98% of the time, changed to easy for like 3 bosses for witch my brain just refused to process timings and i couldnt be bothered.
Expeditioner is working great for me. I die fairly often, but the generous save/checkpoint system means I don't have to worry about losing much progress if I see a dangerous looking enemy and want to just see how it goes. Plus, the potion implementation is refreshing in a JRPG (I know, I know, it's French), as I can just use them as I need them, and not hoard them for a boss (where I'll probably forget to use them anyway).

I've had a few very satisfying victories against enemies in "red" areas where I thought I was a goner, but managed to pull it off at the last second. It's hard to beat the feeling of having one party member standing, knowing that the burn status you have will kill you next turn, and then pulling off a risky parry that lets you kill the enemy just before you would have died.

Expeditioner for 95% of the run. Lowered it to Stroy for 1 boss, played on Expert for a bit too but went back, felt like it's tuned for 2nd playthroughs - and will be a perfect excuse to replay later.
I Always Play chill Games in normal. Souls Likes on max difficulty.

This Game is a Bit of both.. but since i finished khazan recently im Not in the Mode of another brutal hard experience. Therefore i use normal.
Expeditioner. The dodge/parry mechanics are too jank for me to run expert, like I initially did,

Which is a shame, because expeditioner is honestly too easy and expert invalidates a lot of game mechanics considering the name of the game is "dodge or lose." I would appreciate it if the game had some rebalancing.

I played on expert. The challenge enriches the experience for me.

Expert, I rarely ever do anything lower, it's challenging and engaging, but that's the point.
I was using dodge pretty much exclusively during my NG, now might as well have another round while sticking to parrying specifically.
I played both. I think that the game feels more balanced on Expeditioner. With Expert I just feel like the game is pure parry focused. With Expeditioner, I feel like I get to play the game more. I can use Shell, tanky builds and healing to great effect. It just felt a bit useless on Expert, which to me dumbed down the combat a bit to purely getting the timing right.
expeditioner for first play through, will prob ramp it up to expert for new game plus. I don't enjoy getting 1 shot without being able to have a chance to experience / understand the mechanics and having to save/load everytime the boss has a new attack i've yet to understand the timing for.

you get to feel like a badass and it's how the game was meant to be played.

Expeditioner. Why would I want to make a good game frustrating.

Start at Expert as usualy I love Higer difficulties on most games. But after about 30 fights switched to Easy as battle was not entertaining for me. Story is what make me play this game. Never used parry mechanic but instead always use Dodge (about 80% accuracy).
All fights was pretty easy and done in first try. At the end my characters was lvl 57 with Sciel and Escie rep maxed out.
I feel like people complaining about getting one shot on expert are not building defensive characters. My main party is filled with the 1 hp goon squad for maximized damage, but my last stand party has a lot of survivability. Also it’s not a knowledge gap. I’m on act 2 expert playing completely blind, probably missed a ton of ♥♥♥♥ and I’ve found enough defensive pictos to be able to make many mistakes which helps me learn the fights.
