do you want to experience all of the story? Then 100% do Maelle's relationship quest, Lune's as well and you may want to pay a visit to Renoir's drafts and before that the Flying Manor (it's up in the sky, as the name implies).
If you do not want to be overpowered when doing the final missions then you'd better do all these things after the endgame, you will be transported back to a moment right before you start the final missions.
To me it would have felt odd to find all the other story bits after the ending. The ending is kind of literally an end to it all... you do not play on, you are teleported back in time really.
So ultimately... think about who you are as a gamer... do you want to see all of the story, including some good side content? Then absolutely do that before you do the final mission! Or do you want to have a real challenge when you fight the final boss? Then do all the optional bits afterwards.
so flying manor, then renoirs drafts? then final boss?
tho i mite upgrade it to 20 for these end game areas. these regular ass enemy fights take forever, millions of hp each lol. not even bosses.
In terms of story bits I would say do this in the following order...
1. Maelle's relationship quest (by far the most important bit you can do in Act 3 before the final mission)
2. Lune's and Monoco's quests - while optional and not about the family or the main story still add some nice details to their characters, I would not skip it
3. Flying Manor
4. Renoir's Drafts
The Drafts have possibly the hardest boss in the game, just be aware of that.
If you want to do the drafts I would suggest visiting the Endless Tower before that. Maybe even before you go to the Flying Manor. You do get a tiny tidbit as far as story is concerned, but primarily a 33 wave fighting arena that can grant you a lot of XP and makes you strong enough to face whatever terror is waiting for you in Renoir's Drafts.
Also, fight optional bosses in the sky or in the water for useful pictos.
You will be severely overpowered for the final mission then, but I think this final mission is more about the story itself and not about the fight really anyway. So it does not matter all that much if you are very powerful.
to be clear... 33 stages? or trials?
Not sure, but my guess is 33 total fights.
