Do we not know if later in the game that is an unlock? The same way I'd love a map legend and dungeon legend if it doesn't exist too so you know what secrets you are missing for when you unlock those abilities like diving, flying, tree smashing etc. and gotta backtrack the entire game
Wait until you unlock flying and you can revisit pretty much everything.

There are some things that are missable as the game progresses, if you care about not missing anything see a list online, but there isn't that much backtracking even if you want to get everything.

yeah, it's kinda crazy that dungeons have fast travel, so you're able to travel between flags, but we don't have fast travel OUTSIDE of dungeons

sure, we can fly, but it gets tiresome later on, especially when you're having to go ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way north, then come ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way south, lol

just let us click on a location on the map and select fast travel

I'm honestly kinda surprised this feature was missing from the game since it's a staple in RPGs these days

Traversing the world map is the only annoying thing about this game.

Fast travel would have been great. I actually would have preferred just an interface for the overworld map.
It is pretty common for this genre to NOT have fast travel in the overworld and no map legend. So you HAVE to explore and thinking of your own. And tbf... you can fly over the whole map in less than a Minute. So where is the Problem?

Nah, fast travel is pretty much a staple in these games nowadays. You can still encourage exploration while also having this feature.
Fast travel becomes pointless once you can fly across the map, you can get everywhere in record time.

I mean i get that, but it look like flying is very late game (no spoilers please) so for early game fast travel should still be a good option

I understand what you mean... I believe the devs intended for you to only backtrack once you get all traversal abilities. So fast travel is not needed before that, because you are not supposed to return to previous regions until the point you CAN fly and get there in record time. And also reach all those other places you cannot even reach before you can fly.
I knew Esquie could fly eventually and figured I'd wait for that to happen before I explore all of the map, even previous regions. It makes more sense, because if you want to see it all you have to backtrack once you can fly anyway.
I'm so sad they didn't use the Manor for this. It has doors all over, so it would have been amazing if each door in a room was linked to an area in the world.

Absolutely seconding this and I seriously wonder how it's not a thing yet...

I mean, flying is great but when you do endgame exploration and need to revisit many areas all over the world, flying is STILL TOO SLOW.

Great idea. I really hope they add this in a patch. I love the game but the travel is grating. There's only so many times I can listen to "Flashing through the sky!" before I have to turn voices off in the options.

this is irrelevant once you finish act1

How so?
play more of the game's story, you will be able to move faster. And this improved travel will get even better as you go further in.

Well, maybe a few fast travel train stations would be nice. But its not too bad once your travel speed is at its best.
