Early World Map Travel
Once you can fly it is very easy to travel anywhere you'd like. But before that, backtracking through levels (even with teleporting/instant continent exit) made it so I didn't want to go back to the harder areas I was now able to tackle. So once I could fly and went back to them, they were all much too easy.

The world map in general is a mess. Besides withholding traversal options, the balance is all over the place. One moment you're stomping through an optional dungeon, the next you're one shot by the boss.

Game pretty much tells me not to explore until end game.

It says "DANGER" on places that will smoke you before you enter them from the world map.

It's not enough to be honest. There needs to be a way to even figure out if this boss is late game or you're just getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by a gimmick. It's hard to tell sometimes on expert mode since generally an attacks either murks you or leaves you at death's door.

I simply went by whether basic enemies 1 shot you or not. Like Frozen Hearts. First time going there, any attack 1 shots you? You're not ready yet.

Speed is another good indicator. If an enemy/boss has 2, 3, even more attacks in a row, then you are definitely not yet ready.

Told myself that until Grosse tete obliterated my team in one bounce then only found out that's part of his gimmick until some dude said he has a picto drop you can get.
There's also a chromatic boss where you're supposed to get him to break for you deal normal damage. A Lesser man could have thought oh this boss just gets absurd turns and I'm doing 100 + damage maybe i'm not ready yet for this but that's part of his arsenal.

I think act 1 had a good amount of extra stuff that you can reasonably do immediately, like the Gestral arena and the Bourgeon quest. But once you unlock sailing, things start to feel level gated like crazy.
