How to fix game balance
How to fix the game balance:

- Change the way multipliers are applied to adding instead of multiplying
- Nerf Stendahl so that the damage dealt is comparable to other skills of that value
- Fix Medalum damage scaling (above level 19 it increases each damage instead of fire damage as described)
- Remove damage cap from the very beginning to eliminate the advantage of skills consisting of a larger number of hits over those that should theoretically deal more damage in one hit (currently, until Act III there is no point in using skills dealing one hit because it is scaled to 9999 anyway)
- Increase HP of enemies after the initial stage of the game, especially enemies available from Act III

Nobody cares about "balance" in single player story games.
You can always make some weak build if you want to.

every game needs balance, the player shouldn't have to consciously nerf themselves to see at least one boss moveset. And please let's not compare this to challenges like in souls because this type of challenge has a completely different purpose, in expedition 33 it is simply a way to normally complete the game without one-shotting everything, in souls to increase the level of difficulty because these games do not offer it, unlike expedition 33. If I wanted to one-shot my opponents I would play on story mode and not on expert

game allows for a lot of minmaxing that results in those op builds but not everyone would be minmaxer and balancing the game just for minmaxers wont be the solution as avg player would need to look up how to minmax in order to even progress

I myself am minmaxer and I cannot stop so I just set some rules for myself and minmax within those rules

it’s a solo player game. why are you trying to dictate how people play? let stuff be op and stupid. let stuff be trash and challenging to play with. it really doesn’t matter as long as YOU are having fun.

@Aveax Thats why you can choose difficulty, if the game offers them it should be scaled properly to each one. Expert should be always hard, Story mode should be easy etc.

@Alt because you can choose the difficulty? It wouldn't be problem if the game didnt offered it like in souls games for example

they added difficulty. but they also added every “broken” item, weapon and mechanic as well. i would say let them cook. Elden Ring/ Souls Games have broken builds where you can pretty much one shot anything. respectfully that’s a bad example.
This isn't Souls though! Let games that let us exploit things exist....you can continue to play Elden Ring and other games of the like if you absolutely must have strict game balance.

optimizing the build is one of the most important things in any RPG
Agreed, ACT 3 is just way to braindead, I am not even running the most optimal build, and just threw whatever sounded good at glance my. maelly still effortlessly One shots everything I come across including the final and super bosses, never in any RPG have a first attempt 1 shot bosses. Its honestly easier to run busted builds in this game then it is to build something more balanced.

@alt It's about the difference between a game that offers a difficulty level to choose from and one that doesn't. Souls is just an example of a game that doesn't offer it. In an expedition, after a certain point in the game, the difficulty level doesn't matter. Normal difficulty should reflect the direct intentions of the game creator, if the creator gives you the option to choose a harder level, you should expect it to actually be challenging throughout the game, but after Act II it doesn't. How someone wants to play outlines the chosen difficulty level

it’s an obvious choice for the style and inspirations this game takes from.

you can go play persona 5 royal and farm mementos for 2 hours, go out and rock the enemies/bosses you fight against. you can also choose not to do that and experience the game “normally.”

i see no issue with either. most people will never attempt to min max like that because it just isn’t needed anyways. and i personally think it doesn’t sound fun. if someone else does, then good for them.

If creating a build didn't matter, let it not be an RPG but an action game. The problem with this game is that you don't have to do all the side activities to ruin it. I just played the main story while doing side bosses in story locations. I didn't fly to the other side of the map to grind.
