I mean, "Base attack damage" does sound like it's a modifier to your general attack value off of which every other attack type is scaled. It doesn't say "basic", it says "base", so I had to make sure.
Thanks everyone else for answering
Seriously, what a tool that guy was. The wording is quite nonspecific and could be interpreted multiple ways. I also wasn't sure and I'm glad you asked because the answer I needed was just a google search away, thanks to you! Only an absolute moron would condemn you for seeking clarification.
I do agree it took me a few rereads for it to click. They could've just worded it as basic attack instead of base attack.
You literally have an "attack" option. Hmm, could that be base attack?
EDIT: JRPGs usually have this type of possibly dubious descriptions, so I'm sorry if my reply came off snidy, wasn't meant to be. Only if you do play JRPGs otherwise. Then I want it to sound exactly that way.
