Why should I ever buy a $70+ AAA game again?
This small team put out a high quality game that has put many recent AAA games to shame for $50. It's one of the few UE5 games that actually runs well on my mid-rig and it takes up WAY less space on my hard drive.

Why would I ever pay $70+ for a game ever again? Why is it my job to make up the difference in cost from these AAA corpo slop shops because they have bloated dev teams, piss poor project management, activism, etc. that create excessively inflated budgets (which drive the price up higher then it should?

Especially since they probably could create their products with a better optimized corporate structure to keep the budget of designing games down and the price of the game down?

You simply shouldn't. The AAA bubble is gone forever.
I only buy AAAA games with nft avatars :Flamingo:
*Mostly......I though FF Rebirth was good myself....and the RE franchise will never die (me being a big fan of the games) Basically tl;dr buy what you like, stop focusing so much on the culture around the devs of video games and instead see if the game is what you like. Who cares if the game is $5 or $70...if it looks fun it looks fun. Yes, big money, shareholders, blah blah zero creativity, microtransactions, Fortnite ect.....on the flip side of that predictable cynicism there are indeed talented professionals just doing their job and getting paid so that they may continue to live...yes for the big baddies such as EA, Ubisoft, or whoever else.

Just buy what you want to buy and don't what you don't want to. This is a luxury hobby, there doesn't need to be a moral crusade or reason to buy or not buy something.

IF there's an AAA game that interests you, buy it when you want to. Or don't, it's nobodies job to do anything and nobody is forcing you to buy any game you don't want too.

....and then move on with your life, it's not that serious.
I dunno, I guess that's up to you to decide.

I do think the vast majority of games nowadays aren't worth full price. There are some AAA games that come out that are worth it, though, in my books.

That's entirely up to individual tastes. I believe in supporting studios that deliver great games, whether they be AAA studios or not.

Maybe, maybe not. Not all games are created on the same budget within the same time frame. I think AAA games that actually put the time in probably deserve full price a lot more than studios shovelling out AAA slop with a fraction of the dev time put in.

you should buy games that will bring you joy. 80€ is a lot of money (to me), but video games even at 80€ are a cheap entertainment. if i put “only” 10 hours into a game that’s 8€ a hour. A lot cheaper than going to the movies with my wife lol.

people making this.. crusade about the increase of video game prices fail to put it into perspective.

This! I will say it's rare a cheap game comes out that is as high quality as a AAA game. I'm talking decent balance, decent story, decent soundtrack, graphics, etc. There are a lot of smaller games that have a lot of content but it's all low quality. There are a lot of smaller games that have unique features but nothing is well balanced. I'm not saying that AAA games are perfect or that all of them are great, but more commonly they are a lot better.

Also it has a lot to do with how much you are willing to spend/ how much playtime you have. I have enough that Indie games are nice because I'll run out of games if I stick to AAA games. If I was running on a lower budget, I'd take the lower quality Indie games that offer a ton of playtime for your money.
Some rarities do pop up which do deserve the money. Baldur's Gate 3. The FF7 Remakes. Metaphor. Stuff that's actually good. But your Assassin's Creed? Your Dragon Age? Nah, that stuff's not worth even 40$.

If a game is not below $60 I do not even look at it until it hits a sale. I have far far too large of backlog in my library to be pressured into buying.
after this game, you definitely have to ask yourself that question. Of course, there are positive exceptions, but they're rather rare (CD Projekt Red)

Your kidding right??? I am very worried about the quality of CD Project Red projects at this point, they are not the same studio that made Witcher 3 anymore.

CD Projekt Red are definitely not an exception. Actually one of the worst devs to buy a full price game from.

Wait for a year or 2 of patches to fix it then get it on sale.
