Game won't recognise my saves after starting in offline mode

Hi, I'm about 20 hours into the game and everything had been working fine, but my internet was out this morning so I started the game in offline mode and could no longer hit 'continue' from the menu. I thought that was strange so once my internet was back, I turned off steam cloud save because it was taking a long time to sync, and checked the save file location in localappdata. All my saves were now in a sub-folder called 'Backup'. I tried moving them back to the main save folder, but the game still won't recognise my saves once I open the game - they just get moved back to this 'Backup' folder.
