Stop trying to parry everything
If you are really really good then by all means, but there's been more than 1 endgame fight where I needed to check my ego on certain combos because I simply couldn't time all the hits correctly and it was costing good runs. The dodge window seems to be substantially more forgiving. It's very difficult to recover from a missed parry because the entire system seems to be rhythm based and getting back in the timing is a fools errand. Parry what you know you can, dodge what's questionable and the combat becomes easier.

Agreed, I think its pretty obvious some attacks arent really meant to be parried. I beat the Chromatic greatsword enemy in Sirene and it gains a shield that will block parry damage anyways. There was also an enemy Im not recalling the name of that has two attacks that can be parried follow by a jump dodge which prevents any parry from ever occurring. Also some attacks have extremely high risk and relatively low return. I hardly ever press the circle button but I also recognize Id often have an easier time if I didnt always press R1.
If you want to dodge go for it. Isn't it only like 1 point to get the +1 AP on perfect dodge too? If you see a PERFECT when you dodge, that means it would have succeeded with a parry too. If you only see the word DODGE that means you would have failed if you tried to parry it.

Also on normal and expert difficulty parry is .15s and dodge is .22s
