Correct. Everyone else is characters in the painting, including the version of Verso that you play.

They're real, the Dessendre family are basically like gods. The original Verso is the creator of their world.

Yeah got the whole Christian creator vibe, like were all essentially creators. Although hard to say that a world you create is real. Pretty sure it's only as real as you make it for yourself. Although I get it can be more difficult then that.
