So when the Paintress writes a new number, everyone of that age vanishes in a puff of flowers. So what if you were 32 years old when she wrote 33? You'd turn 33 before she changed the number again. Would you vanish on your 33rd birthday? The game doesn't say (or hasn't from where I'm up to) but seems to imply as much since there are no old people.

You would vanish at the next gommage, since the gommage removes everyone that is already that age, AND above it. So not at your birthday, but together with peoples being 32, the following year.
