How to change DirectX settings from outside the game?

Hey everyone, I have a AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT and I've done nothing but suffer trying to play video games with it, many games blackscreen on launch for me including Expedition 33 :(

Sometimes, changing the directX setting solves this, and I want to try this solution with E33, but the game launches, shows the seizure warning and company names, then black-screens and cannot load. I've looked through the game files and could not find a settings file to edit, and I've tried to add "-dx12" to the Steam Launch Options line in the properties of the game on steam, but it has not worked.

Any help with changing this setting appreciated + any general advice if anyone has experienced this issue with the RX7800 I'd love to find a solution

If you are getting black screens and having to change directX settings on multiple games, Id look into either faulty driver installation or hardware issues with the card or memory.

Same thing with this video card. Problems in all new games, before that I had an nvidea card and everything always worked.

all of my drivers are up to date and I recalled the card, local distributor (that is an authorised and official retailer) claimed it ran perfectly in their lab and its not faulty, they just sent it back to me and refused to replace it.

I also have a RX7800 and I experience a lot of crashes... The only solution I found was to uninstall all graphics drivers and install a very old one, version 24.2.1. When launching the game, it warns that this driver is not optimized and might contain some errors, but I force the game to launch anyway, and I no longer crash.
I don't know if it could help with your problem but wanted to share with you in case it could.

By the way how do you change the directX version ? I can't find
