The Mask Axon Fight Is Masochistic
Whoever designed this is evil.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea I just beat him. The only thing I had going for me is I am good at dodging but the debuffs he applies, the shields, the heals unnecessarily drag on the fight.

No doubt there was a smarter way to beat him than the method I used but WOW.

You saying that just explained eveything lol. I took the direct route.

I think I skipped major parts of the fight because my double-attack build Verso bugged out and got like 10 turns in a row

I don't know what interaction caused it, probably something with the invisible phase and the masks

Even if you destroy the masks it is a very hard and very long battle.

Also if you destroy all masks in phase 1 it does an attack thsy instantly reduces the party health to 1. That is stupidly lame design

missed out on a lot of loot, which you still can get, at least I hope so
I am able to return to the area and collect the world space loot, but I guess I missed the drops by the sub-bosses...

Towards the end of Act 1 I was able to reach a hit of 9,999 with Maelle. So in Act 2 I opted for a "verso" which SPAMs attacks like never before, empties your magazines => hits hard => free turn with 6 AP.

10 gun strikes in one turn is not a bug, it's a build.

Yeah no I'm using exactly that, that's not my point. Dualiso Verso spamming attack/gun pictos is kind of an obvious build, and usually it would let your turn look like ;

gunx8 => attack => gunx5 => attack, or maybe use a skill instead of the second gun rotation. Except during that one specific fight, whenever I launched the second attack or the actual skill, Verso just immediately started getting the turn again, and could start the entire combo all over again

I managed to beat him on my first try, but he was definitely a challenging boss

i dont know what to tell you i didnt find him that hard and i didnt parry half of his attacks (normal difficulty). it was pretty doable. sometimes you need to invest 10 minutes into a new build to make stuff easier.

Can I ask did you like myself go straight for the boss? Or did you instead take the alternative paths? I am curious as to whether the first response in this thread explains what I encountered.

There is no question that I didn't have the strongest builds for all the cfharacters at that point, but my Verso build definitely resembles what has been discussed here, so I can't have been that far off with them at that point in the game.

For weakest axion there is loot. So as much as you can just kill the boss, just looting the side paths is very useful.

ah yes, ofc i did it the intended way. maybe this time around i will try beating him without going for the other paths.
