[RESOLVED] Game now immediately crashes to desktop.
Was doing fine. Got to Act II. Then game crashed while I was trying to adjust graphics settings and cause PC to reboot. Now the game won't even launch. Other games like MHW works fine.

Tried rebooting, different launch options, reinstalling and changing GPU drivers. verifying game files, reinstalling the game, resetting network, compatibility mode. Nothing helped.

I am literally unable to play the game anymore. Sucks because I really love the game.

Same here, fatal error on attempting to launch.
I'm not getting fatal errors on boot. But I am indeed getting random fatal error messages on a small pop-up window and the game crashes during gameplay. It's maddening at this point.
I don't even get a pop up window.
Click Play -> Goes to Black Screen -> Immediately goes back to desktop -> Button on Steam page changes from Stop back to Play
I am getting this more frequently at a certain point of the game at Act 2, which I presume is the last major area of the act.
My game is booting, but fails to load any saves. Every time I select a save, the loading screen will freeze, 15 seconds later the "Fatal Error" pop up. I'm not in Act 2 myself, I was grinding the Hidden Gestral Arena. :/

Same here. Was stable through Act 1 with not one crash, but having just started Act 2 now getting random hangs and ctd. Luckily not as severe as some of the others in this thread, but is making it difficult to play

If your game crashes immediately (like the OP), I posted a possible fix here.
Originally posted by Kaavie:
I fixed the issue, for me there was a corrupted file inside the appdata folder: AppData\Local\Sandfall\Saved\SaveGames\<id>\SharedGameUserSettings.sav. I already tried to remove this folder more than once but I didn't realize the corrupted file was always being restored because of Steam Cloud Synchronization. I had to go to the game properties in Steam and disable: "Keep game's saves in the Steam Cloud for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33". After that I removed the entire Sandfall folder from my appdata (make sure to back it up) and then the game launched. To get your savegames back put the files from the backup in the folder one by one and check if the game still launches.
Thanks, Kaavie. This was the fix I needed. Although instead of removing the whole folder, I only removed the SharedGameUserSettings.sav file. Upon launching the game with internet disconnected, the game reconstructed a default version of that file with initialized settings. All I had to do was reapply my settings an exit. After reconnecting the internet and launching the game again, Steam asked if I wanted to load with my local save or the cloud save. Clicked local and now it seems I'm back in business... after wasting a whole weekend of playtime lol.
