It's usless to talk about anything
...because most of the kids out there are too cool for school and give 0 advice only insulting and saying skill issues and bs like this. So take this thread and feel free to rant. I finished the game and I liked it even though I think there are many unbalanced fights.

Take a break and go in with a fresh mindset, there is a consistent timing for dodging his vanishing attack. Learning it will take trial and error but it'll make the attack a wasted turn once you have it down.

Thanks, I'll take a day off and play something relaxing and give it another try tomorrow.

i think renoir and paintress are the hardest fights in the game because you can't really cheese them due to the damage cap.

i just put it on story mode if i don't want to struggle, it's not like you auto-win, just more forgiving.

Everything in this battle is "fine" but when he let's people dissapear it's almost impossible to doge or evade or do anything counter it.
That is false you can dodge that soo it is not much problem.

for people thinking he is hard or unfair, soo you did see Simon or Endless Tower boss

It's always okay to take a break.
I figured it's not obvious, but every single day you learn these timings, you get better the next day. It's really just the learning curve like with any other skill, you also have to rest, and during that rest you process experiences that happened throughout the day. Then you wake up the next day and you are slightly better.
Just give it a time and eventually your parry/dodge will work out and success will come. :ot2_ochette:

P.S. Don't forget. Tomorrow comes!

Your brain need rest to asimilate the learnings, this is not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Anyone who has played a pattern based action game can confirm this

He is a great character, but AWFUL fight. Just the fact that phase two is giant middle finger to the player is bad enough, nevermind the healing. I also noticed his attack timings are wildly inconsistent making this a very unfair fight. A simple flash indicating when to actually dodge would actually make him feel fair.

Believe it or not, with the right builds you can actually beat him without needing to dodge/parry anything. It does depend a little bit on luck, but not to a particularly insane amount (maybe it takes 3-4 attempts if you're unlucky, at least if your strategy is optimized)

In my Expert run with no dodge/parry:

The first renoir fight (some RNG, more or less depends on whether you can burst him down to half health before he vanishes a character from the 3 character team - in this case he was bursted down to half health before the 3 character team even switched in)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc0Uhk-hbE0

And the monolith fight (in this run I believe he only got 2 actions where he could've vanished someone that mattered - with a more optimized build it's probably possible to prevent both of those actions from happening, I was kind of winging it a bit)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0kfZO7z5QQ&feature=youtu.be

In retrospect, the strategy I used for the 2nd fight is probably a better strategy for the first fight too, I think I just didn't have the skills unlocked to try it at the time.

Yepp. Same for me. He usually makes Maelle dissappear first round and Monoko in second. Every try I had so far, he made 4 of 5 Characters dissappear and I cant parry it for the life of me. One of the worst design choices, I've ever seen and it ruined a so far perfect game for me.

Man I'm sorry this is happening, but the attack is the same every time. The timing is the same.

I don't really want to tell you to gitgud, but you have to get better. Learn from the fight, get the timing down and dodge on time. If that is too hard turn down the difficulty to story mode

I was trying it more often and I came to the point when I had to ask myself if I want a Boss to ruin a wonderful game for me. So I decided to turn to easy and made him first try. I kept it on easy now because the main focus of this game (for me) is its Story. The fights are still interesting enough and I can enjoy the whole World now without frustration.

Doesn't he still make them disappear on easy?

Before you take half the health bar, vanish requires gradient counter, after that it requires a parry followed by a gradient counter.

He tries to but it seems to work not as good for him as on normal, dont know why + He has less hp and I make more dmg so even if one dissappears he's managable now on easy.
