[Spoilers for the end] Disappointed by the final bosses in the story.
I know it should be beatable by people who didn't explore. But there are better ways to do this, I've seen it in other games.

I got to the final "dungeon", I started picking up pictos and they were level 16... I already have a bunch of pictos at lvl 31. So this pretty much set my expectation for the final boss.

I unequipped more than half my lumina in order to not one-shot the boss.
Even on expert difficulty, I still one-shot the boss without even seeing any of their attacks.

I get it, the intention was for people to not have to explore the map and grind levels and stuff. But there are ways to make the boss weak enough to be beaten by those people AND have the boss be able to attack overpowered players too.

In games like persona 3 the final boss has several "health bars" each time you deplete one, he changes arcana and does different attacks, so even if you over level and one shot it, you still see the boss gimmicks .

They should have made it so it has phase-changes and each time you hit a phase change point in it's HP, it does a scripted attack you have to survive. For overlevelled people they at least see the boss doing a cool attack, and for people who didn't overlevel, it would just be normal fight progression for them. The lampmaster boss was kinda like this.

it feels like people who wanted to explore the game world are punished with not seeing the final boss mechanics/attacks.

I have to disagree, it's great to be able to steamroll final bosses in RPGs by grinding and getting good stuff first. My opinion of course.

But you can still steamroll with the phases thing really easily, I use the alicia's 6 cost break attack on the boss on the very first turn and it immediately one shot him. My suggestion is that you just do that multiple times, heck even free aim could make short work of that pathetic HP pool, to see the boss do...SOMETHING.

at least you see a cool cutscene-like attack that deals no damage to you because of pictos that grant shields. Surely you don't disagree in wanting to see cool boss attacks at least once right?
