This game is NOT a "JRPG"
Wasn't this game developed in France? how can it be a Japanese RPG if it was made in Europe its nonsensical might as well call skyrim a jrpg too.
Thats not to say thats a positive or negative moniker theres absolutely awful jrpgs as well as amazing wrpgs but why call it something it isnt it makes no sense

its not calling itself a JRPG, its an "Evolution" of JRPG's

Which is just a fancy way to say Inspired.

Whatever it is, sure does play like one.

the store page says otherwise

It is not, semantically a JRPG, but what people mean when they say that, it's that it is "JRPG styled".

It follows specific JRPG codes and tropes and is heavily inspired by J-RPGs... from Final Fantasy IV-X, Persona, Lost Odyssey and even a bit of Elden Ring and Sekiro.

Western JRPGs have been a thing for decades, and the term hasn't always meant something that had to be made in Japan but also something made in the style of traditional Japanese RPGs. Hence Western JRPGs like Anachronox, Summoner, Septerra Core, Shadow Madness, Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, this, etc, etc.

All of those games are currently on Steam or GoG if you want to check them out.

JRPG is a genre, not a classification. JRPGs aren't JRPGs simply because they are made in japan. Does every roleplaying game made in japan fall under JRPG? You might argue semantics, but there are mechanics attached to the genre.

i agree its heavily inspired by japanese role playing games but that doesnt really make it one, you could argue most action and role playing western games are also inspired by japanese titles and that doenst make them jrpgs, just because lies of p was inspired by jrpgs like darksouls doesnt mean its a jrpg too

final fantasy, the original JRPG, was directly made and inspired by western myths/folktales and tabletop board games

that isnt true, etrian oddissey games are jrpgs so are from software titles, its a generic denomination for rpgs made in japan

yeah those are wrpgs calling them jrpgs would be wrong, again nothing to do with the quality of the games or the style since jrpgs vary greatly in that as well

JRPG as a genre and not literally made in Japan.
Same as I can make sushi, Japanese cousin, while not being in Japan.
