Gustav and party in general
First of all, I didnt find all companions, just found Maelle. So I have only Gustav, Luna and Maelle. But the reasons I ask you are:
1. Who is the more or less "comfortable" party? I dont mind if you spoil me the names.
2. The second question is more crucial for me - Gustav.... the more I play with Luna and Maelle the more he seems... like a third wheel? What I mean by that is I already have some sort of synergy between Luna and Maelle, e.g. Luna set enemy on fire, Maelle use the skill that changes her stance to purple one with 200% damage if the enemy is on fire or can use the skill that adds extra ignition if the target is already ignited, so on so forth. But Gustav is playing his own game - more often than not, physical attacks that deals a bit less damage than everyone else because even Maelle can afflict fire, skills can buff other or he can heal himself. I use him only to charge his hand and use big kaboom but I doubt he is designed to be one button ally. Do I play him totally wrong or he is becoming underdog the more you go into the game? What do you think of him, guys?

Gustave is pretty big on breaking enemies, a mechanic you may gloss over early on, but then you realize just how important it is.

Gustave comes around at the end of Act 1, you'll be able to unlock skills that make him way more viable because of a specific story moment (iykyk)

I ended making a build with him that is entirely relying on free aim attacks that apply marking. Helps a lot and it deals crazy damage with some crit pictos.
Gustave is kind of bad honestly. His weapons suck compared to everyone else. You'll get a 4th character soon and you should use them instead of Gustave.

My suggestion in the meanwhile is to dump everything into Maelle and make it so she can easily take on enemies by herself without the rest of the party.

Oh? Okay, so some people think he is op, some people say he is bad. Guess Ill just have to wait for the further characters to join

Funnily enough Gustave hard carried me. His skill that does five hits can generate a lot of charge. Just put a lot of critical chance on him and you can easily get 7 charge.
Then you just spam overcharge for 9999 damage.

But yeah as someone has said before Act 2 Gustave is really something else. He has a skilled called Defiant strike which hits twice and can easily do two 9999s. Best part? Doesn't even cost any AP just 30% health. Then there's a Picto that heals most of your health once something dies which perfect since this skill just one shots mobs.

Every character can be OP with the right combination of pictos. It just requires a bit of theory crafting. I sat down one morning and spent 2 hours building my team up

Gustav is pretty weak in act 1, even the 4th character you get has better synergy with burn.
But he does get a glow up in act 2, pretty much redefines his character.

Also, Lune can apply burn for him, which together with the picto/lumina that increases crit chance on burning targets boosts his count by a lot :)

Ohhhhh, okay, and what about Maelle?
Dovaah May 2 @ 1:06pm
Maelle can oneshot everything in the game if you build her right
Swote May 2 @ 1:13pm
I gave mine toughness and vitality and put him in the second party. He is surprisingly powerful when he's alone and getting tons of AP and counters for his overcharge through parry. The self heal is pretty insane too. He is the boss of my party now. It's great

I genuinely like Lune due to her elements diversity, found a picto that adds weakening to basic attacks, so Gustave afflicts it to a target, and then Lune just smashes it with a proper spell, especially if its a target that is weak to fire because i found a weapon that makes fire spells cost 1 AP less
But as for Maelle, she doesn't do that much damage yet, but I like how she uses the debuffs
For example, get extra turn if you hit enemy with weakening debuff, get twice as much damage if your target marked, stay in virtuoso stance if you hit a target that is burning, etc.

Gustave does really alot of break, the skill that cost 10 points to learn (without counting the skills before in the tree) does quite a good damage too, but you would need to use some Combo Attack and Energizing Picto for make it work since that skills costs alot of AP

So you have to parry everything for him to be good?
