3rd Area feeling boss fights are taking forever, do I need to grind?
I just tried to defeat a boss on the 3rd area and it just took forever which makes me think my characters are not leveled up enough for this area still.

They're around lvl 10-11 at this point.

Should I go back and grind a few levels to boost damage a bit?

If so, where's the best area to do so?

It really feels the game needs more random creeps wandering around. This area in particular only has 2 creep groups before hitting this boss.

If you rest the monsters will respawn.
I don't remember what level my characters were for each area, but I'd say if you are getting less than half a level of exp from killing a trash mob encounter in the current area, then your current level is fine.
Can't remember levels, but legit grinding is pretty much never needed. But the most important thing you can do is to make sure you explore every side and optional area, even if it is considered dangerous. It is very easy to grab items off of the ground, and some enemies are easier than they seem. Afterwards, ensure your skill and pictos builds are good on everyone. Level and attributes hardly matter compared to everything else. Even an excellent weapon can increase your damage immensely.
I never really had to grind for level... but i did explore all optional paths...

Also, more important than character level is managing pictos and luminas. Finding the best synergy between them will make you OP very quickly.

Finally, like in Elden Ring, your weapon's Level is very important and the weapon's strength scales with specific attributes. so it's useless to put all your points in "Might", if your weapon only scales with Luck and Agility.

Hope this helps

Im near the end of A2 i believe and i never really struggled with anything, i feel the boss/monster balancing is realllly good, now that being said, i have killed few mobs few times before But not as much that it would be considered grinding at all, Just few times to lv up a weapon or get 1-2 more lvs But i never felt like i was stuck in any single instance of the game :) Which is tbh rare for these kinds of games.

You can always respawn mobs by using "rest" on ur flags, if u do it once or twice in an area as u move forward, u should be fine with progression, also do explore quite alot :) ull get some good stuff if u do , exploration is well rewarded ^^

No, the pacing is actually really well done.
If you follow the story, you should be about the right level.

Granted, if you can parry attacks the game becomes much easier. Parrying whole attacks and combos will grant you tons of APs which you can use for powerful abilities.

And try to look into enemy weaknesses, your Pictos & Luminas and upgrade your weapons.
You likely ran into an optional boss. They are stronger than bosses on the main path.
Coming back to this post, I think I just got a few more levels and that was enough to breeze through this area.
