GTA 6 not releasing this year, chance for GOTY?

I think this is the perfect game to win GOTY, it fits all suggested requites:
1- New IP
2- Unique and creative
3- Small studio and first game
4- Highest rated game on metacritic of this year, highest rated user score, ever

I'm not sure what else could compete.

Sequels don't win GOTY unless they are very different and are vastly innovative (example BG3)

I would love to watch the theme of this game being blasted as the team goes up and gets their GOTY award. Truly deserves it.

Even if GTA6 releases, this game is still going to be GOTY for me. Personally I couldnt care less about GTA.

i mean i do love gta ngl. i have like 6000 hours on gtav alone on ps4 and ps5.but im just happy getting so many great games this year.i think in the last two years i bought less than 4 new games.all the ones i got were from 2018 and older.i dont care which one wins over the other.

gta 6 gonna be just your another gta games like another gta game.. there is nothing special... nothing new experiences will added in the mind of players.. if you really know the pattern how goty works, you definitely know why astro bot, elden ring, bg3, sekiro, gow, it takes two win goty.. all of them give new experiences. elden ring gow and bg3 might be the same as the previous game but all of them give us new experiences like a new game

Why would you assume GTA6 would get game of the year? Because of the hype? The nostalgia? Just because they dumped a ton of money into it doesn't mean it's going to be good. All awful reasons to be nominated GOTY.

i don't even think gta 6 will be goty when it comes out, no idea why it is still so hyped - it's such an old formula and they just haven't improved much over the years with that franchise

Lots a big games coming out this year. Not to mention the handful of potential ones that have come out already. Going to be a lot of competition for it and that's a good thing.

Personally, I don't see why GTA 6 would win GOTY. It's just GTA, it's the same formula that the previous games have followed. The only difference being that the graphics are better, it's more polished and that the story is different (dunno if it's going to be good, but Rockstar can make good stories).

This game IS going to be GOTY unless some Sony game steals it like last year...

On Golden Joystick, I am sure that this will win a lot of awards, maybe even GOTY, but TGA is up to the jury and sometimes it's not really well judged.

A lot of people care about the game awards. A bit too much I'd say. Some people literally go on to review bomb a GOTY nominee or winner just because they're favorite game didn't win.

Good chance. Though I still think there's more come this year but I'll riot if this game doesn't win soundtrack of the year at least
