Today I Learned: Why it's called Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

So it was bugging me, who/what is 'Clair Obscur'

Was this something like Sid Mier or American McGee where they slapped the name of someone first. Nope, it's not a name.

After a little digging, it's the French translation of Italian word Chiaroscuro. It's derived from the Italian words "chiaro" (clear, bright) and "scuro" (dark, obscure). It's an artistic technique that uses strong contrasts between light and dark to create depth and drama in a painting or drawing. So it's very thematic to the rest of the game.
