Maelle and Monoco are there to do damage and could easily be replaced with the other 2. Monoco was just there because I needed him to collect the feet, and he grew on me. And also he oneshots a lot of encounters with Sakapatate Fire.
I am not usually really into these passive characters who are there just to heal and take care of buffs and debuffs and that is probably why I didn't like Lune that much, in these games I usually just focus on as much damage as possible, if I kill them first, I can't get killed type of mindset lol.
Sciel is very good for one shotting as well, but it takes a lot of time to build up all the foretell and then the 3 cost gradient attack. Lune is just lacking in terms of DPS compared to the others so these 3 were obvious choice for me.
I think that Lune is amazing until late game, after you collect enough feet for Monoco, level up Verso and unlock the extreme skills for Maelle, the other 2 characters will just get pushed away.
