Question for the billion damage NG+ players

Does something happen if you defeat the "white haired man" at the end of act 1? I feel like with an OP build it should be possible to actually take him down without the assistance of a certain cutscene?
I might be naive, but I had to ask. I'm pretty sure I know the answer already though :)

Nope can't beat him. I literally had Gustav get like 5 turns to his 1 turn. Doesn't matter. You HAVE to 'lose' that fight.

you cant kill him, its scripted that gustave die there

you get gustave back permenently in NG+ tho.

I asked because I thought maybe there is a small possibility, that you can unlock a third ending if you win this unwinnable fight or so. It would have been cool. I love the game, but I am a bit conflicted with both of the games endings. Sure, one of them is the "good" one, but I feel like there could have been a middleground between those two endings :)
